10 Tips for Joy in your life
Keep it simple
As a society we are bombarded with commercials and advertisements to help lose weight, have whiter teeth, thicker hair, stronger muscles, and the list goes on; but typically at the end of the day, it requires either a lot of money or a lot of time to get the results that they are promising.
Well, today I am going to share with you 10 Simple Tips for having and keeping JOY in your life:
1) If you haven’t already: download the Bible App on your phone: in the morning and right before you go to bed, turn on the audio feature and allow the Word of God to saturate your mind. (My favorite is the book of Psalm)
2) Limit how much you watch the news/social media.
It is often draining and without us knowing it. It can affect us in a negative way. Maybe look at it in the morning but not at night. Instead, replace the news/social media with upbeat praise/worship music. It can help shift the atmosphere in a positive way.
3) Go outside! Most of us as children stayed outside playing and enjoying nature. Let’s go back to that - add time to your schedule to do a sunrise or sunset walk, walk alone, or with a friend/family. Being outside in nature automatically brings a closeness to our Creator.
4) Don’t hang around Negative Nancys and make sure that you aren’t the Negative Nancy within your circle. (Everyone says: Oh My!-lol)
Limit negative thoughts out of your mind through prayer and the Word of God, and hanging around uplifting people.
5) Find something to do that you enJOY: painting, running, yoga, crocheting, decorating, etc.
6) Do something kind for someone who would least expect it: maybe a new neighbor, an elderly person, a parent who has children that have special needs, a young teenage girl who is trying to figure out what life is all about.
7) Get plenty of rest, a lot of adults are grouchy due to the wrong amount of sleep. Be intentional-put the kiddos to bed a little earlier or turn off your favorite show so that you can have time to wind down and go to bed at a reasonable hour.
8) Relax and Breath throughout your day……don’t take yourself too seriously. It’s okay to be silly, to laugh, to have fun! You only get one life, so let’s live it well!
9) Find a sisterhood like JOY Ministries (you like how I threw that in there right-lol), that will support you during challenging times and cheer you on during times of celebration.
10) Last but not least-Have a personal relationship with God. Talk to him on a regular basis, and release your worries, cares, and frustrations to him. Ask him to replace your fear with faith, unrest with peace, and unhappiness with real JOY!
