Seasons

Bare branches, frigid weather, and snow on the ground…..Winter

Flowers blooming, bees buzzing, and pollen in the air……Spring

Blaring hot sun, and longer days…….Summer

Leaves turning orange, yellow and red……Fall

For many of us, depending on where we are living in the world we have four seasons. Each season brings a unique distinction from the others. Within each season there are some pros and cons. Let’s look at the Winter season, during this season it can be freezing; which for some people they like the cold weather. It can also bring bright white snow. It’s nothing like building a snowman with one of your children. Winter can also produce ice, which can cause damage to the power lines and black ice on the road.

During Springtime the flowers are so beautiful to look at, it’s so neat to see the different butterflies fluttering around. The weather is often mild and enjoyable. Spring can also produce a lot of pollen, which for those with allergies can cause them to feel miserable.

In the Summer, the days are longer, which allows more time for cookouts and outside playtime for the children. The summer heat can be scorching and it can cause sunburns and heat exhaustion.

During Fall, the leaves are so stunning with their bold colors of red, orange, and yellows. The weather tends to be cold in the morning, mild during the day, and then cold again in the evening, so we put on and off our jackets several times throughout the day. (Lol)

Seasons in our lives are very similar to the natural seasons. Every season can bring challenges and JOYs, it’s up to us to enjoy the season that we are currently in. For example, maybe your life’s season seems to just be changing diapers and listening to Cocomelon for the 1,000th time. (Lol) But the beauty in this season is that you are your child’s primary teacher and you can teach them the ways of the Lord and spend that quality time with them during their formative years.

It may be tempted to wish you were in a season where your children were all grown up and independent but then you have women in that season who wish their children were little again. You may be in a season where you are taking care of your aging parents while your friends are going out and traveling the world. The beauty of this season is you get to make memories with your parents that you will have forever when they are passed away. You are honoring them by taking care of them. Travelling can always wait, those places you want to travel to aren’t going anywhere.

I think we as women can easily get caught up in looking and longing to be in a different season. But let’s be intentional to enJOY whatever season God has us in because just like the natural season there is beauty in each season. Some people can’t find JOY in their current season because their mind and heart is still stuck in a previous season that has passed. If this is you then I pray that God will help you move past that season and start enjoying the one that you are in. If you can’t move past it, don’t be afraid to reach out for professional help. God wants you to thrive and be JOYous in every season of your life!
