Storm Damage
Breaking News! (Not Really-😅)
A storm is expected to hit any day now!
What do you do when you hear a weather person announce that a storm will be coming your way?
If you live in the South you run to the nearest grocery store and buy eggs, milk and bread! Although with the current egg prices you will probably just buy milk and bread-lol.
When you hear of a Hurricane coming towards you, you start preparing and making sure that you have all the needed supplies just in case the storm gets bad where you are. When you hear that a Tornado is coming you run to the basement, if a Snowstorm is coming you'll probably grab extra logs for the fireplace.
You make sure all the flashlights have fresh batteries, candles are available and easy to access,
plenty of canned goods and other non perishable food items (just in case the power is out for a while).
If you have a generator, you make sure you have plenty of gas and it has been serviced recently.
The weather and news reporters will be constantly reminding us to make sure we are adequately prepared and will even have a list on their website on what we should purchase or gather together just in case we need it.
While it's great to be prepared for a natural storm that you know is coming. There are times when these as well as spiritual storms can come unannounced. This is why we need to have the following ready.
Preparing for Spiritual Storms
Physical storms can come and go and we can pick up, fix, or replace the things that were damaged in the storm. That is why it is so important to be prepared, it will limit the damage that is done. Well, physical storms aren't the only storms in our lives.
We have spiritual storms that we also need to prepare for. These types of storms can come on very suddenly. So, it’s very important to be prepared for when these storms come.
Here are some things that you need to have in place.
Prayer - This is a must!! You NEED to have an established prayer life. You don’t have to pray 5 hours a day, but you must be connected to God on a daily basis. Once you have this in place, all the rest will be easier to do and will fall in place.
Read the Word - We need to be in His Word so that when the storm comes, we can meditate on what He has already said. “I will never leave you or forsake you.”
Create a strong support team - Surround yourself with people that will help uplift you during hard times. People that will pray for and WITH you. People that will also tell you to get your bum up and wash your face. Sometimes we need these strong words to help get us moving.
A church family-Being established in a good church family is vital. The church is a body and we need everyone to work in their respective roles in the body. When one part of the body is injured, the others surround them and uplift them to help them heal.
Give to others - Find ways to bless others in the middle of the storm because in return it will help bring you JOY. This doesn’t mean that you have to break the bank. I mean, if God directs you to give, then do so. BUT give of your time to others, Reach out so that God can pour into you!
