The Tomorrow Mentality

Hello, Nicole here... God gave this message to me back in 2019 and brought it back to my memory the other day when thinking about what to write about. I am excited to share this little message with you all, as it has ministered to me once again.

This message comes from Ex 8:1-15. If you aren't familiar with this story in the Bible, I'll give you the gist of it. But do go back and read it for yourself. 😉

Here is Pharaoh covered in frogs. The second plague that was sent by God thru Moses and Aaron. All the land was covered in Egypt. From Pharaoh's throne room to his bedroom. Frogs everywhere. Wherever you looked, there were frogs. You couldn't knead bread for the frogs were in the kneading troughs. You couldn't cook anything because there were more frogs in the oven. And not just a few frogs here and there, but there were so many, you couldn't walk without frogs being there.

Pharaoh finally got so annoyed with the frogs that he called Moses and Aaron to take away the frogs. In return, he was going to let Israel go sacrifice in the wilderness. Moses said, ok, I'll ask God to remove the frogs from you... And here is the part I find very intriguing... Moses asks Pharaoh WHEN? When would you like me to have this done? Now you would think that Pharoah being surrounded by frogs, would say now... Oh but no. He says tomorrow. Tomorrow?! There are frogs in everything and he says you can have the taken away tomorrow.

The Tomorrow Mentality.

With the next plague, the lice. God tells Moses to have Aaron hit the ground with his rod and the dust turns to lice. But when the magicians tried to do the same, they could not. And they go to Pharaoh and say, "This is the hand of God." but yet, Pharaoh still doesn't listen as his heart was hardened. Moses sees the pride in Pharaoh, so when the fourth plague comes (the flies) and Pharaoh calls on Moses and Aaron to take the flies away, Moses doesn't even ask when, but just says that he will entreat the Lord that the flies will go...tomorrow. I'm going to add my own commentary here... So if Pharaoh's troubles aren't a priority to himself, then why should they be for anyone else. Maybe if Pharoah said to take the frogs away immediately, then Moses might have done the same with the flies.

Why wait until tomorrow? What is holding you back from getting what you need today? Pharaoh was in distress but he was willing to let one more day go by in his trial. He let pride get in the way of getting out of his situation.

So why not today? Are we gonna sit here in our situation, with our problems, before we cry out to God today?!

If you were in a car wreck, and someone came and said I'll call for help, would you say, "oh, I'm good? Wait until tomorrow." NO!! You want help now!! So why do we hold our pride in and not called on the one true God that can move in an instant? Why not NOW?! Are you afraid to come to God... The one who can take it all away?!

If Pharaoh would have let his pride down, I bet he would have told Moses to have God take the frogs away NOW and not wait. But he was living in the tomorrow mindset. Tomorrow I'll come to God. Tomorrow I'll ask God to help me. Tomorrow... Tomorrow... Get out of your tomorrow mentality and get into the NOW Mentality.

Blind Bartimaeus had a great need. What if he was living in that tomorrow mentality when Jesus came by. He would have missed out on an opportunity to come face to face with his creator, the only one who could really make a difference in his life. He would have been blind the rest of his life. But something in him told him that this was his opportunity to get what he needed and NO ONE was gonna stop him. When he shouted out "thou son of David" people pressed him to stop, but the bible says that he cried all the more.

Some people, when they are faced with confrontation, back off. They hide. When they have a need and they started crying out for that need and at times met with resistance, they back off...I'll try to get my need met later or in a different way... WHY? If you have a need, why let anything or anyone get in your way of seeking for that need. "Well, God already knows our needs sister." YES, He surely does, but He is waiting for you to cry out to Him. What if God had that thing you needed, whatever it is... healing, peace, JOY, financial blessing...what if He has it all ready to give to you... wrapped up in a nice little package with your name on it. "I made this gift just for Nicole...I know she really needs it. I'll give it to her when she asks me for it..." And six months later He is still holding onto that same gift because she kept saying I'll ask for it tomorrow, but tomorrow never came. He is waiting for you to call on Him... that's it...just seek Him for your need and He will give it to you. There's no need to wait.

The JOY of the Lord is always there waiting for us to embrace it...TODAY and EVERY day!! Don't wait until tomorrow to CHOOSE joy today.
