In this new year let's be intentional in protecting our peace like it's the most expensive diamond in the world because peace truly is invaluable and priceless!
Here's 10 ways to protect your peace:
1) Do a Self-Evaluation of your life, health and season of life. Often we are trying to live life at the same speed we did when were younger but typically the demands of life are different now then when it was when you were younger and in a different season. Don't be afraid to re-evaluate and make adjustments if needed.
2) Evaluate your inner circle, often times we have people in our inner circle that are draining our peace, but we are too afraid to put healthy boundaries on those types of relationships. It's okay to talk with them in love and let them know the boundaries you will be implementing.
3) Evaluate your sleep pattern, sometimes people are feeling on edge and anxious and it's because their bodies isn't getting proper sleep. It's essential that we are sleeping well so that we can be at our best for ourselves and others.
4)Evaluate your exercise regime, are you incorporating exercise in your lives on a regular basis. Walking and running has been proven to help reduce stress in our lives. Even if it's just a quick power walk after lunch, it is going to do wonders for the body and soul.
5)Declutter your home especially your bedroom if needed, research has shown that cluttered spaces increases anxiety and by decluttering it helps reduces it. So if you struggle with anxiety first start by decluttering areas that are in your control such as your house (start small with a drawer or closet) or car.
6) Unclutter your mind and soul, by being very mindful of what you watch, what music you listen to, who you connect yourself with. The media is often times draining our peace and affecting our nervous system and we aren't even aware of it. Try a day of no social media, news, or TV and see how peaceful you are going to feel.
7)Keep a prayer journal-write down your prayers and victory report. Sometimes we are thinking that God isn't answering our prayers, he has we just haven't taken the time to notice. Help us Lord!
Also journaling your thoughts can also help reduce stress and increase your peace.
8) Embrace Nature-I am a witness that this helps bring peace into your life. During a very difficult season in my life I started finding walking trails in my community to walk in, some weekends I would go sit at the Beach and watch the waves and pray and reflect. It was like balm for my soul. God created this beautiful world for us to take full advantage of every aspect. Do you have a neighborhood or backyard you could start walking in?
9)Have a spirit of Gratitude and give to those who are less fortunate. It could be you giving of your money, donations, or your time. Let's all take an inventory of our home and see what items are not being used and bless others with it. We can't take it with us when we go to Heaven so let's bless some people while we are here on Earth.
10) Last but certainly not Least in order to have True Peace you're going to have to be in relationship with the Prince of Peace! He can give us peace despite what is happening in our worlds, bodies, families or jobs. In order to obtain this peace we have to pursue him through prayer and being in the Word. Early morning prayer with the Lord is life-transforming. If you don't already try to get up before your family and spend some one on one time with the Lord it will help jumpstart your day with Peace!
