Chaotic Joy

Have you ever had a day that was going so good and then the next day it seemed like the Joy of the previous day begin to unravel? That’s what happened to me a few months ago.

I had went on a out of state trip to Boston on the way there the weather was perfect, going through TSA was hassle free, the plane ride was peaceful and comfortable, the hotel was nice, rental car was a fun convertible, the food we ate on our way there and while we were there was so yummy.  Honestly to this day some of the best seafood and sushi I’ve ever eaten. Overall it was a trip of perfection………until we were on our way back home.

On the way back we had flight delays, missed our connecting flight due to the flight delayed, was stopped by TSA (culprit was the metal on my denim skirt-lol), hotel that the airport put us in was a major contrast of what we had stayed in and not for the better, all the food places in the airport by then was closed. So now after a time of near perfection I was sitting in a hotel that I didn’t want to be in, hungry, and exhausted since now at this point it’s almost 2:00 in the morning.

I had a choice that I had to make was I going to allow these setbacks ruin the fun trip or was I going to shift my mind and focus on all the positive and fun things that had happened.

Life is like that sometimes we are going along enjoying times of JOY and fun and then something unexpected happens. What do we do in those moments? Do we crumble and just give up or do we ask God to reframe our thinking and look for the positive things that are still happening in our lives. Depending on what difficult situation you are being asked to go through, I want to encourage you to do some practical and spiritual steps to help you navigate  through.

1)    Play encouraging scriptures aloud on your Bible App.

2)    Go outside and get some Vitamin D, the sun is a natural way to help lift our spirits.

3)    Put on some upbeat Christian music and declare the promises of the Lord in your life.

4)    Put things on your calendar to help take care of your physical, mental and emotional health. For example drinking water, going on walks, getting quality sleep etc.

5)    Remind yourself that this is just a season, it will not last forever 😊

I’m happy to say that despite the many challenges on the way back from my trip that I decided to keep my mind on the JOYous time that we did have. (I kept telling myself that it was giving me some good blog material-lol!)

Sometimes things are literally out of our control so we might as well sit back, find something to laugh at and enJOY this one life that we’ve been given.

Praying that you Choose JOY today despite the Chaos of life, you can

make it and you are not alone!
