Change of Life
During my teenage years I often heard my mother and Aunt Mamie make comments about someone they knew or themselves going through the “Change of Life.” I had no clue what they were talking about; fast forward and how well I know what they were referring to. For some women in midlife, the night sweats, hot flashes and decrease in estrogen that affects so many aspects of a woman’s health and well-being is challenging.
Most of us have heard of or have firsthand knowledge of this kind of life change.
But every person female or male, old or young will experience different seasons of life. For example my youngest grandson going to Kindergarten for the very first time or a teenager going to college, or the career age person starting a new job, and a newly-wed couple trying to navigate the wonderful and challenging work of marriage.
The relationship seemed so effortless while dating but now they are in the “Change of Life.”
When leaves start to fall and the reminders of change is all around me; I can feel melancholy reflecting on some former time that I considered a better season of life.
I like adventure to some degree but I am a person of routine for the most part, even with the creativity God had graced me with I am still a creature of habit, sometimes finding it difficult to handle things that “disturb my routine.”
Jesus know His creation, our desire to keep things the same even if they are harmful to us. He has given us His Word to help us to navigate the “Changes of Life”, consider this verse: Hebrews 13:8 AMP. Jesus Christ is [eternally changeless, always] the same yesterday and today and forever. Here lies our hope and help for every change that life brings us.
Jesus and His purpose for me will never change. He does not grant us an unchangeable world or life. However, he gave us something much greater which is his promise that HE will remain the same forever. I can trust Him to see me through “hot flashes” whether natural or spiritual and in seasons of uncertainty pain or grief as well as the seasons of great blessings favor and fellowship with Him.
Autumn is such a beautiful time and I love the array of colors in the leaves and decorating my home for the season. Yes, life changes but there is so much to enJOY in the change, with Jesus Christ the “Change of Life” should not stop us from living our “Best Changed Life.”
